David Haye is convinced Amir Khan will show America just how great British boxing is.
The world heavyweight champion has landed in Las Vegas
to give his support ahead of the WBA light-welterweight showdown with Marcos Maidana,
in Gr8 Britain
versus The World live on Sky Box Office HD.
He was also in Helsinki for Carl Froch’s
recent world-title win and believes Khan
has what it takes not only to retain his title, but keep British boxing on the crest of a wave.
“I know Amir Khan is going to finish the year off with a tremendous victory,” he told Sky Sports News.
“Maidana is a good fighter, he’s accomplished, he’s beaten some good prospects, but I know Amir has trained hard for this.
“He’s going to win clearly on points in the same sort of manner Carl Froch did against Arthur Abraham
– or he’s going to stop him late.”
“We’re all British world champions and very rarely does Britain have one world champion let alone three champions at the top of their weight divisions, representing us out here in Las Vegas, letting America know Great Britain has a genuine world champion ready to take on all-comers.
“It’s good for us to support each other. I was out in Helsinki with Carl Froch and he put on a tremendous performance and I was happy to be part of the group.”
Khan though, is the only one to have made it to the bright lights of Las Vegas.
It is the first time one of our fighters has boxed on The Strip since Ricky Hatton
was at his peak and Haye
believes the boy from Bolton can make as big an impact as another British Muslim who took America by storm
“He has got the style, the charisma and people have taken to him – look at the turn out here. He can be as big a star as Naseem Hamed
was.
“I know people still talk about Naseem now – and Amir can do exactly the same thing.”
Amir Talks to Sky Sports
December 8th, 2010Hear what Amir has to say before his big fight in Vegas this Saturday

Amir Khan is confident he can overcome his biggest test to date when he defends his WBA light-welterweight title against Marcos Maidana.
The Briton makes the third defence of the belt on his debut in Las Vegas on Saturday night when he takes on the heavy-punching Argentinian, who has scored 27 of his 29 wins by stoppage.
The 23-year-old Brit is delighted to be finally appearing on the famous Strip and is determined to put on a big show for the travelling fans.
“This is the mecca of boxing, all the big fights have happened here,” he told Sky Sports News. “You’ve had the likes of Floyd Mayweather, Manny Pacquiao, Oscar (de la Hoya) and Ricky Hatton and now it’s my turn and I want to grab it with both hands and put in a huge display.
“I’ve got the best team around and I’ve got the pressure of the world watching me, but to be honest I feel great because I’ve trained hard for this fight and I’m in great condition.
“It’s going to be a huge fight for me and I know what mistakes other fighters made (fighting in Vegas) and I’m not going to make the same mistakes.
Durable
“It is a huge test for me, I’m going to meet him today in front of the media but it’s going to be fine. We’ll see who the best is on the night. It’s a tricky fight for me, I’m fighting one of the biggest punchers in the welterweight and light-welterweight division and he’s durable.
“But we know how to beat this guy and we know exactly what to do.”
The fight has been labelled ‘Thunder and Lightning’ – matching Maidana’s power against the speed of Khan – and the Briton expects the latter to be the most important factor in the fight.
“Speed kills and I’m sure my speed’s going to kill his power,” he added. “He’s a big puncher but quite slow on his feet.
“I need to take that big right hand he’s got away from him and keep away from that, and my power will come through and I’ll probably stop him in the late rounds.”
Sky Sports talks to Freddie
December 8th, 2010Check out this link to read what Freddie Roach has to say before the big fight on Sky Sports
http://www.skysports.com/gr8britain/story/0,29150,20063_6560728,00.html
Hope you all enjoy the fight Saturday, Here is what Freddie has to say -
I’m back in Las Vegas, of course this time with Amir and so far everything has gone great.
We had a little workout yesterday and we’re going to have a short workout today down at the track, but Amir is pretty much ready fight now. Everything’s where I want it to be.
We’ve started tapering down; we’re doing less rounds in the gym and we’ve cut back on the road work. This morning Amir had a very light swim, nothing too strenuous at all, because now we are starting to think about what we are saving for the fight.
It’s been a good camp, but a long one and we have done a lot of travelling since Amir and I hooked up.
We started off out in the Philippines with Manny of course, then went to Texas
before we ended back at my Wildcard Gym back in Los Angels and here we are now.
Like I say, it’s been long, but it means we have got a lot of work done.
Sparring has gone great; we had a lot of different guys who brought a lot of different styles with them, so whatever Marcos Maidana
brings, we know we’ll be ready for it. I feel that Amir will not lose a round in this fight.
Amir’s power is something else this time and I really think it is increasing with every fight. I think I am going to need a new bodybag, that’s for sure.
He is getting bigger and stronger and it won’t be long before he’s a welterweight. Once we’ve cleaned up at 140lbs and unified those titles, he’ll be more than ready to move up.
As for me, I cannot wait for Saturday night, which will be the perfect end to another busy year. I know Amir is going to break this down and we’re looking at a knockout in the last third of the fight, I’m sure.
After that I can look forward to a well-deserved rest at Christmas that’s for sure.
But with Manny Pacquiao
beating Antonio Margarito
and Amir winning this weekend I think I’ll be able to sit down at Christmas with another Trainer of the Year award. That would make me happy.
Then we can sit down and look at what’s next. And I am sure we will be back in the UK pretty soon when I look forward to spending some more time in Bolton…

Click to Create wants Local Businesses for the launch of its new website – www.clicktocreate.co.uk
September 23rd, 2010Bolton-based Click to Create has launched its new product led website and has said it aims to help local businesses sell their products online!
Director Christian Peacock believes that providing local businesses with the ability to set up an online store using a sophisicated ecommerce platform provides a great opportunity.
Christian said “We can benefit small and start up businesses by providing a full e-commerce website that would otherwise costs thousands of pounds to develop. Here, we have an opportunity for local businesses to sell alongside one of the region’s best loved athletes Amir Khan. We’re excited about creating new online stores.”
Click to Create is very proud to be the only place on the web to sell Amir Khan’s Brand AK range of clothing and gifts. At fight time, this leads to over 20,000 unique visitors to the website who are browsing and buying the AK range.
Jamie Baxter the Managing Director of www.myweddingmagazine.co.uk also had this to say: “We opened our online store with Click2Create as an alternative way to selling our Wedding Magazines online. Our website sold bespoke magazines but setting up our store on Clicktocreate meant we could offer gift experience packages without the expense of building our own ecommerce website.
We found the people at Click2Create to be friendly and approachable and it took very little time to get the shop up and running.”
